cowgrrl: (northern mockingbird)

As I said in my previous post, on sunday I had the privilege of being able to take part in one of [livejournal.com profile] urbpan's nature walks. This one was at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, which is also an aboretum.

Pond at cemetry
Here's one of the pretty scenes we saw there.

pond again
Same scene as above because it was just that pretty.

warbler in tree
We spent lots of time looking up at tiny birds in trees. I don't have a good zoom lens and most of my pics are of trees and if there's a bird in it, I really can't find it. Sort of a Where's Waldo for bird-watchers. In this pic at least we can see the bird. It's likely some sort of warbler.

Chinese Dawn Redwood
Part of the trunk of a rare tree: a Dawn Redwood from China

red-bellied woodpecker
That little dot of red you see in this pic is the head of a red-bellied woodpecker. (whose belly isn't red!)

robin
A robin with a worm in its mouth. Actually, it's probably a caterpillar.

turtle
A turtle going for a swim. :-)

bullfrog
Here's a big ol' bullfrog. We saw several of them. Noisy critters, those bullfrogs. :-)

Gorgeous photos! The bullfrog looks cool .. we don't get frogs that size up here.. none that I've seen anyway!

I've rarely ever seen froggies that size either. Maybe I haven't known where to look!

What a beautiful place! The Dawn Redwood is a fascinating shape. How fun to see so many critters!

Thanks for sharing! It is good to know spring has come SOMEWHERE!
(I CAN see a hint of green in the birch trees today!)

Green is an encouraging color! Hopefully you'll get spring any day now.

That first picture is so gorgeous it cheered me right up. We're quite overcast this morning here in the PNW with some drizzle even!

Yes, you do get a lot of rain where you are, but it makes everything so green. I hope you get warmer weather soon!

Thanks! I usually see them sitting on rocks. It was nice to see as swimming turtle. :-)

Hooray! Glad you had fun. Nice pictures!
I'm thinking next time to go to Belle Isle Marsh. How do you feel about that?

I'd never heard of the place so I googled it. Looks interesting, and I see it's T-accessible. So, sure! If it works with my schedule.

Amazing photos. I actually love the bird in the flowering tree. Great colors and just a hint of a bird. Sort of like a secret. Amazing parks. How did you ever find them?

Mt Auburn Cemetery is pretty famous. I'd been there before, but I don't think I'd ever been there in the spring.

I keep forgetting what lovely places there are to wakl around here, no that far away. Thanks, I'll make a plan to revisit Mt. Auburn soon, before the new flower buds are gone.
