Never buy an airconditioner during a heat wave

Last weekend, at the beginning of the heat wave, sophiaserpentia and I both bought airconditioners. Neither of them worked. One had a broken fan, the other was noticably damaged on the outside and made an awful rattling noise when lifted out of the box. Today was the first day we had time to return them. Best Buy only had large ACs that would be overkill for our small rooms. And Home Depot is completely out. We were told Home Depot will be restocking ACs on thursday. Guess where we're going thursday evening... The heat wave will have broken then - it will probably be 60 degrees out (or so say the weather peeps) so there shouldn't be a rush on airconditioners that day.

In the meantime I'm managing with my window fan.

I heard you talking about that weather change and I looked at the weather this morning and I don't see much of a change until wednesday, where it will supposedly be in the mid 70s. It looks like it will gradually cool over the week and next weekend should be more seasonable though.

Yes, I see they've revised the forecast. :( They do claim a low of 59 degrees for tuesday night so hopefully just one more hot night to get through without AC.

Probably more energy efficient/environmentally correct but I think my home is already too messy without adding that contraption! :)
