Rooting for the "villain"

The problem with being a vampire fan is that (especially in older media) the vampire gets killed at the end. I hate that! I've always tended to root for the underdog and the vampire is no exception.
My beloved cheesy and badly-written soap opera, Port Charles, was canceled last year (after it started getting decent ratings, go figure!) but I've still got about 2 1/2 months of the end of the series on tape that I've not yet watched. Recently
secret_willow and I started watching the episodes again. Last night, Caleb (the vampire) had a wonderfully triumphant moment, as he finally got something he'd wanted for a long time. I chose to end our evening's viewing on that high note. I'm still savoring the moment! But I just know the writers are going to have it end badly for the "evil" vampire characters. *shudder*
