Boom today, boom tomorrow...

Tired of spending much of my weekend holed up in airconditioning, I decided to venture outside for a walk despite the 90 degree heat. Shorts, t-shirt, sunscreen, sun hat, camera: I was ready to go. After about 10 minutes on the bike path I started hearing a faint boom! Oh, the storm is way off in the distance, I reassured myself, and kept on walking. The booms got more frequent, and after taking only one photo I decided to turn around. Sure enough it started raining, then immediately pouring. The neighborhood swimming pool, full of splashing children when I'd walked by it before, was now empty, the children and adults huddled out front, towels wrapped around them. The rain felt good, actually, but I was concerned about my camera so I hurried home.
So much for getting exercise today...though I will venture out again, this time with an umbrella.

It seems like just yesterday I was photographing the first hints of spring, and now the leaves are starting to turn. *pout*
