Here are a few pics from last weekend's NY trip.
Our hotel was in the financial district, very close to where the World Trade Center towers once stood (a.k.a. "ground zero"). This was my first time seeing the ruins of 9/11/2001. As I looked through the fence I noticed grass growing in the hole in the ground -- new life. If you look closely you can see a little green.

After that not-so-cheerful sight we walked over to South Street Seaport. It was raining so we didn't get to explore outside much, and inside it was just another mall with the same old stores that are in every mall, USA. So we left and went to The Village.

At Christopher Street we found the Queer Statues! Cool! I remember reading about them in the newspaper but I'd never actually seen them before. Here are the lesbians. :) After that we went to Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookstore: the first gay bookstore I ever set foot in, way back when I was still in my teens. I was glad to see it was still there.

A parting glance at New York as we made our escape on the Chinatown bus after the horrible fan event the following day.
